Don't Move Firewood!

Beware of moving firewood.

In the winter months, wood piles stack up. Hidden in your firewood may be the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) beetle larvae. EAB is a threat to our ash trees.

You can prevent the spread of EAB.

  • Don't Move Firewood. Always keep your firewood in your county and if you buy it, know the source.
  • Do not accept firewood from EAB-infested states. And no matter the degree of the winter, harsh or mild, be sure to burn every piece of wood before May 1st.
  • If you are camping or hunting, buy firewood at your destination.
